One day, in this little town of Dice people, a bakery opens. You start your trial shift, turning a blind eye to the cannibalism around you. Luckily for you, the customers are kind enough to bring their own recipes! Match the dice ingredients in the oven to make your fellow dice friends happy.

How to play

Customers will appear in the bottom right, and ingredients will appear in the bottom left. The customers will request a specific bakery product from you, so you need to take the ingredients and put them in the oven. The icons in the top right tell you which dice you need to use

  • Blank colour square - use any dice of this colour
  • White number square - use any colour dice of this number
  • Coloured number square - use this exact dice

You must pick up the dice in the order the recipe specified. You can put dice down on the shelf in the top left (if you have space) and if not you can bin them.

New dice will arrive at regular intervals. Beware - if you leave any in the loading area and a new delivery comes in - the existing dice will drop in value! This could work to your benefit in some cases.

Known Issues

  • It's possible to find a slope and move upwards, leaving you floating in the air unable to get down
  • Sometimes the game runs into an error and you can no longer pick up dice, this requires a restart of the level unfortunately
  • If you complete all of the orders in the tutorial, it'll start spamming empty orders until your computer crawls to a halt.

Q: The scoring seems really inconsistent?
A: We didn't have time to properly implement scoring, right now you will complete the level no matter your score

Q: Why can't I put dice into the oven?
A: The dice you're holding need to be a valid recipe, and you need to pick them up in the order specified in the top left

Q: Why does nobody want the thing I baked?
A: We had planned to make every recipe look distinct, but didn't have time. As a result, many different recipes share the same graphic which can make it hard to tell which one is which

The game overall felt good to play controls-wise and it looks quite good in terms of graphics! Though I will say there were several instances of having almost all of the same color or value, which could lead to waiting longer than anticipated for either the appropriate value or the right color. Unfortunate there wasn't enough time for a colorblind mode, as I can see how some colors in the game could be hard to discern when paired with other dice.  Otherwise pretty fun to play despite the hiccups.

This was an interesting game, one which I really wanted to like. Unfortunately, it felt much too easy to end up with no dice of the right color. The mechanics of the game were simple and fun, and the graphics and music of the game were great. The issues of either not getting the right colors or numbers and having to wait, or accidentally starting to float, which was quite common, led me to find the actual gameplay not very fun.

Yep, it's unfortunate that a whole bunch of the central mechanics weren't ready until the final hours of the jam - which didn't leave time to properly playtest and make sure there wasn't too much waiting. Thanks for giving the game a play!
